The annual Walk for Wellbeing campaign has raised £5,000 for Pharmacist Support.
Pharmacists, pharmacy students and retired pharmacists came together throughout September to walk 97km or complete 97,000 steps, raising vital funds for Pharmacist Support and helping to highlight the importance of wellbeing across the pharmacy profession. The challenge encouraged participants to ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor their efforts, with fundraisers taking on the challenge in their own way. Among those taking part were pharmacy student and charity ambassador, Michella Quansah, pharmacist and charity ambassador, Shilpa Shah, and members of the Royal College of Pharmacy’s Retired Pharmacists Team (pictured). Thirteen fundraisers raised over £5,000 through the challenge.
Danielle Hunt, Chief Executive of Pharmacist Support, commented: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in Walk for Wellbeing, and to the many people who sponsored and supported them. The funds raised will help us continue providing vital support to pharmacy professionals and students when they need it most. It has also been wonderful to see people come together through walking, make time for their own wellbeing and encourage one another along the way. We hope the conversations and connections created through this year’s challenge will continue beyond September.”
As well as raising funds, the challenge provided an opportunity for people to prioritise their own wellbeing, spend time outdoors and connect with others, while helping to raise awareness of the support available.
Shilpa added: “As a profession that spends the majority of its time supporting the health and wellbeing of others, their own health and wellbeing is often overlooked.”
Although the September challenge has now finished, people who have been inspired by the fundraisers can still make a donation while the fundraising campaign remains open at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/ps-walk-for-wellbeing-2026
