The wellbeing charity, Pharmacist Support, has announced a new corporate partnership with Orion Pharma (UK).
The partnership is designed champion positive wellbeing across the pharmacy profession, and will see Orion Pharma, which develops, manufactures and distributes pharmaceuticals, working with the pharmacy profession’s charity to raise awareness and vital funding for their core services, helping pharmacists and students facing financial difficulty, addiction, mental health and wellbeing challenges and other personal or work-related difficulties.
The partners will also work together to champion pharmacy wellbeing more broadly, with Orion Pharma becoming a headline sponsor of Pharmacist Support’s annual flagship wellbeing campaign, ACTNow, which supports pharmacists, pharmacy managers and pharmacy teams with mental health and wellbeing in their professional and personal lives. Orion Pharma will also sponsor Pharmacist Support’s podcast, A Dose of Wellbeing, which explores the challenges facing the profession and shares practical advice, insights and lived experiences to support those working and studying in pharmacy. And, to further promote workplace wellbeing, the charity will also host Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshops to Orion Pharma team members.
The partnership is backed by Pharmacist Support’s research which highlights the scale of the challenges facing the pharmacy profession and the urgent need for greater support and awareness around wellbeing. In its 2024 Workforce Wellbeing Survey (held jointly with the RPS and APTUK), a staggering 87 per cent of pharmacy professionals reported that they’re at high risk of burnout, with inadequate staffing, work-life balance challenges, financial pressures, lack of support from colleagues or senior staff and long working hours affecting their wellbeing.
Danielle Hunt, Pharmacist Support’s Chief Executive, commented: “With pharmacists up and down the country continuing to struggle with workplace and personal challenges, this new partnership with Orion Pharma will play an important role in supporting the wellbeing our pharmacy family. By working together, we’ll be able to help even more people in our profession, and we look forward to having a greater impact over the course of our partnership.”
Ian Wariner, Country Manager at Orion Pharma UK (pictured), added: “Pharmacists across the UK provide vital services for healthcare and they are frequently the primary interface between the patient and NHS. As a pharmaceutical company dedicated to putting patients at the heart of everything we do, we recognise the importance of the pharmacy profession in helping us to help patients. For this reason, Orion Pharma (UK) is delighted to be supporting Pharmacist Support, because building wellbeing means the world to us.”
